Welcome
Ntigah in North America (NiNA)
Ntigha in North America (NiNA) is a charitable organization, dedicated to promoting cultural, economic, educational, healthcare and social activities of Ntigha in North America and beyond, fostering fraternal relations between people of the ancestral community of Ntigha in Nigeria and the people of North America.
Our President's Message
NiNA seeks to preserve those ties, enriching North America and Ntigha forever
Welcome to the website of Ntigha in North America (NiNA). Perhaps nothing captures the notion of the world as a global village better than an encounter between an ailing American senior citizen and their caring immigrant social worker from Ntigha. The former realizes that the latter could have easily been the malnourished child he or she had seen on television fifty one years ago during the Nigeria-Biafra War. All across North America, scenes like this play out every day in hospitals, rehabilitation facilities, nursing homes, senior citizen centers and, yes, family homes.
Some of our focus areas
Our Featured Courses & Campaigns
01
Culture and Social Activities
Socialization of citizens is through the family, lineage, village, and community-based units that are often patriarchal, and the residential units are established through the rule of patrilocal or father’s lineage.
02
Education
There are numerous elementary, secondary, and vocational schools in Ntigha with Ntigha Secondary Grammar School, Eziama Ntigha; Secondary Technical School, Amapu Ntigha; and Our Lady of Mercy/Bishop Anthony Nwedo’s Juniorate, Amapu Ntigha.
03
Health
The health situation in Ntigha is generally good, with access to basic healthcare services such as clinics and hospitals. However, like many rural areas in Nigeria, there are still challenges such as limited access to specialized medical care and a high prevalence of diseases such as malaria and typhoid.
04
Economic
Despite the outflow of young men and women into the urban areas, the Ntigha economy is primarily agrarian with a majority of people actively engaged in farming and selling of farm produce at the two major markets
